We surveyed women about the custom of giving chocolate on Valentine's Day, and "want to continue" outnumbered "want to stop." It is just as expected that people give handmade or expensive chocolate to the person they like best, but what about when giving to other people? Among people who work, many answered that through giving "obligation chocolate" they hope to improve relationships in the workplace. Also, according to the answers of high school girls, they often do not give to boys, but instead give "friend chocolate" to the girls in their class. It seems that the way of giving chocolate differs by generation.

問 男の人は野菜作りをして何がいちばんよかったと言っていますか。
Transcript
野菜作りは本当にいいですよ。農園に来て作業をすることによって、仕事のストレスも解消できますしね。最初は何もわからなかったんですが、初心者には、野菜の育て方を、親切に教えてくれるんです。言われたとおりに育てたら、トマトとナスがたくさんとれたんですよ。でも、いちばんうれしいのは体の調子ですね。前とぜんぜん違うんです。土を触って体を動かすのがいいんでしょうかね。これにはちょっとおどろいています。
Growing vegetables is really great. By coming to the garden and doing the work, you can also relieve work stress. At first I didn't know anything, but for beginners, they kindly teach you how to grow vegetables. When I grew them just as I was told, I harvested lots of tomatoes and eggplants. But what I'm happiest about is my physical condition. It's completely different from before. Maybe it's good to touch the soil and move your body. This has surprised me a little.
問 男の人は野菜作りをして何がいちばんよかったと言っていますか。
1ストレス解消ができたこと
2野菜の育て方がわかったこと
3トマトとナスがとれたこと
4体調がよくなったこと ✓
What does the man say was the best thing about growing vegetables?
The question asks what the man says was the best thing about growing vegetables. The talk does mention 「仕事のストレスも解消できます」 (rules out 1), 「野菜の育て方を、親切に教えてくれる」 (rules out 2), and 「トマトとナスがたくさんとれた」 (rules out 3), but these are just some of the many benefits he lists along the way, not the point he particularly stresses. The real key is the line he singles out: 「でも、いちばんうれしいのは体の調子ですね。前とぜんぜん違うんです」. With 「いちばんうれしいのは」 he states directly that what pleased him most was that his physical condition improved. → 体調がよくなったこと. The answer is 4.
Grammar in this question
〜とおりに:(Grammar point ㉕ of this lesson) In accordance with ... 「言われたとおりに育てたら」 = when I grew them just as I was told.
Key vocabulary
解消(かいしょう) relief, resolution
調子(ちょうし) condition, shape

駅で、男の人と女の人がアナウンスを聞いています。女の人は、電車が止まったことに対してどう思っていますか。
問 女の人は、電車が止まったことに対してどう思っていますか。
Transcript
M1: Attention, passengers. Because we can hear a cat meowing from underneath the train, we have stopped the train to investigate. We apologize, but please wait a moment.
M2: Oh no, now we won't arrive on time. What a pain. I'm going to be late.
M1: Attention, passengers. A kitten has just been found riding on the machinery under the train. We are very sorry for the inconvenience to our passengers.
M2: It really is a nuisance.
F: But it's a kitten, so it can't be helped. Isn't it good that the cat wasn't hurt?
問 女の人は、電車が止まったことに対してどう思っていますか。
1遅刻するので困ると思っている
2本当に迷惑だと思っている
3しかたないと思っている ✓
4とてもよかったと思っている
What does the woman think about the train having stopped?
The question asks what the woman thinks about the train having stopped. 「遅刻するので困ると思っている」 and 「本当に迷惑だと思っている」 are both what the man (M2) says: 「困ったなあ。遅刻だよ」 and 「本当に迷惑な話だよね」. They are not the woman's opinion (this rules out 1 and 2). 「とてもよかったと思っている」 has no basis in the dialogue, since the woman never says the stoppage itself was good (this rules out 4). The woman's real attitude is: 「でも、子猫じゃしょうがないよ。猫にけががなくてよかったんじゃない?」. With 「しょうがない」 she expresses "it can't be helped," showing an understanding, resigned acceptance of the train stopping. → しかたないと思っている. The answer is 3.
Grammar in this question
〜に対して:(Grammar point ㉒ of this lesson) Toward ..., regarding ... 「電車が止まったことに対して」 = regarding the fact that the train stopped.
Key vocabulary

Q1
この問題では、絵を見ながら質問を聞いてください。矢印(→)の人は何と言いますか。1から3の中から、最もよいものを一つ選んでください。
Listen to this sentence first
問 美容院で写真を見せて、カットを頼みます。何と言いますか。
At a hair salon, you show a photo and ask for a haircut. What do you say?
1この写真、見てもいいですか。
May I look at this photo?
2この写真のようにしてください。 ✓
Please cut it like this photo.
3この写真、お願いします。
This photo, please.
The situation is 「美容院で写真を見せて、カットを頼みます」: at a hair salon, you show a photo and ask the stylist to cut your hair like it. The most natural and complete way to make the request is to state the result you want directly: 「この写真のようにしてください」 (Grammar point ㉗ of this lesson, 「〜のように」, "please do it like this photo"). This both presents the photo and clearly states the specific request. 1 「この写真、見てもいいですか」 asks "may I look at this photo?", which makes no sense (you brought the photo yourself, so you don't need permission to look at it). 3 「この写真、お願いします」 could also convey "please go with this one," but compared with 2, which clearly states the specific request of "cut it like this," it is somewhat vague. The answer is 2.
