4限り

Related grammar point 2 見るともなく
熱心に講義を続ける教授の耳に、どこからともなく静かな寝息が聞こえてきた。
While the professor was lecturing passionately, a quiet sound of someone breathing in their sleep reached his ears from somewhere.
1後ろ
「後ろ」 is a concrete directional noun, and 「後ろからともなく」 is unnatural; it does not match the usage of "interrogative + からともなく".
2何
「何」 cannot be followed directly by 「から」 to indicate a place of origin, so it does not fit.
3外
「外」 is a concrete directional noun and does not match the usage of "interrogative + ともなく".
4どこ ✓
Correct. 「どこからともなく」 means "from somewhere (unclear where)" and corresponds to the supplementary usage "interrogative + ともなく" under grammar point ② of this lesson.

1ずっと体調がいい ✓
Correct. 「てからというもの」 means "ever since ..., (a change) has continued" and corresponds to grammar point ④ of this lesson: "ever since I started taking the medicine, my condition has been good". The meaning fits the idea of a continuing change.
2突然倒れた
「突然倒れた」 (suddenly collapsed) is a one-time event, which does not fit the context in which 「からというもの」 emphasizes a continuing state.
3前と体調が変わらない
「前と体調が変わらない」 (my condition is no different from before) means "no change", which contradicts the nuance of change implied by 「からというもの」.

Q1
日本の労働者の多くが、周囲に配慮するあまり、12★4と考えてしまう。
Related grammar point 11 小鬼ごとき
日本の労働者の多くが、周囲に配慮するあまり、1たかが2頭痛3★ごときで4休めないと考えてしまう。
Order: 3 → 2 → 4 → 1 ★ = option 4
Many workers in Japan, out of excessive consideration for those around them, end up thinking, "I can't take a day off over a mere headache."
How the sentence is built
First comes 「たかが」, then 「頭痛」, the ★ falls on 「ごときで」 (grammar point ⑪ of this lesson, "nothing but ..."), and last comes 「休めない」, which connects to the 「と考えてしまう」 already given at the end of the sentence.
Q2
これからも、皆様の12★4努めてまいります。

これからも、皆様の1ご期待に2沿う3★べく4サービス向上に努めてまいります。
Order: 3 → 2 → 1 → 4 ★ = option 1
From now on, too, in order to live up to everyone's expectations, we will continue to work to improve our service.
How the sentence is built
First comes 「ご期待に」, then 「沿う」, the ★ falls on 「べく」 (grammar point ③ of this lesson, "in order to ..."), and last comes 「サービス向上に」, which connects to the 「努めてまいります」 already given at the end of the sentence.
Q3

Order: 3 → 1 → 4 → 2 ★ = option 4
When something is made this elaborately, it would probably be hard to even tell which one is the genuine article, wouldn't it?
How the sentence is built
First comes 「どちらが」, then 「本物か」, the ★ falls on 「判断が」, and last comes 「つきかねる」 (grammar point ⑱ of this lesson, "be unable to ..."), which connects to the 「のではないでしょうか」 already given at the end of the sentence.
Part 3: Reading
Show passage translation
"There's an opening for a high school lecturer. What do you think?"
Ever since I accidentally deleted the experiment data my senior colleague had spent half a year collecting, the atmosphere in the lab had been awkward, and the professor, sensing it, spoke to me about this.
Teaching was a profession that I, who am bad at speaking in front of people to begin with, had wanted to avoid at all costs. But I really couldn't give such a reason to the professor who had looked after me so well. Besides, the money from my family had stopped coming, and my expectation that I could somehow get by working part-time alongside my research had proved too optimistic; in order to put food on the table, it was an unavoidable choice.
I steeled myself. I'm not going to let mere high school kids look down on me...
I took a deep breath and opened the door of Class "1-A".
The noisy room fell silent in an instant, and with the call "Stand," the clatter of chairs echoed, and the navy-blue uniforms filling the classroom all rose to their feet.
Forty pairs of eyes were fixed on me all at once as I walked up to the lectern. Some of them were whispering to each other about something while looking my way.
"Bow."
The formal greeting ended, and just as everyone was taking their seats, the back door slid open with a bang and one kid came in carrying a helmet. The moment our eyes met, he opened his mouth.
"Hey, who are you?"
So the sound of a motorcycle that had been echoing from somewhere earlier was this guy.
Q1
「俺」が教師になったのはなぜか。
Why did "I" become a teacher?
1高校生が好きだから
The text never says that "I" like high school students; on the contrary, it states clearly that this was 「絶対に避けたかった職業だ」 (a profession I had wanted to avoid at all costs).
2研究室が嫌になったから
「研究室が嫌になった」 is inaccurate. The reason the atmosphere in the lab became awkward was that "I" had ruined my senior colleague's experiment data, not that "I" had simply grown tired of the lab.
3生活が苦しかったから ✓
Correct. The text says 「親元からの送金がなくなり」 and 「食わんがためには、やむを得ない選択だった」 (the money from home stopped coming, and it was an unavoidable choice in order to eat), which shows that he was driven by financial hardship.
4先輩にお世話になっているから
What the text mentions is that the 「教授」 (professor) helped by offering the job, not a 「先輩」 (senior colleague), so the person in this option does not match.
Q2
クラスの生徒たちの「俺」に対する態度として最も適当なものは何か。
What is the most appropriate description of the class students' attitude toward "I"?
1尊敬
The text contains no depiction of the students showing "respect" for the new teacher; they are merely whispering with curiosity.
2興味 ✓
Correct. Both 「こっちを見ながら、何やらささやきあっているやつらもいる」 and the fact that the student who arrives late on a motorcycle asks straight out 「ね、誰?」 as soon as he comes in show the students' curiosity/interest in the new teacher, rather than respect or indifference.
3親切
The text contains no depiction of the students behaving in a "kind" way toward "I".
4無関心
「無関心」 (indifference) clearly contradicts the descriptions of the students whispering and staring at the new teacher, and of the late student asking straight out who he is. The students are obviously very interested in the new teacher.

Q1
問 学校への問い合わせが増えたのはなぜですか。
1すしを食べたい人が多いから
2フランス語に自信があるから
3テレビの番組で紹介されたから ✓
4料理の勉強ができるから
Why have inquiries to the school increased?
The teacher states the reason clearly: 「先日、テレビで取り上げていただいてからというもの、問い合わせもこれまでの5倍以上に増え」 (grammar point ④ of this lesson, 「〜てからというもの」: ever since we were featured on TV the other day, inquiries have increased to more than five times what they were). 1 "Many people want to eat sushi" has no basis in the passage. 2 "Confident about French" is the woman's own situation and has nothing to do with why the school's inquiries increased. 4 "Can study cooking" is a selling point of the school's course itself, not the direct cause of the change that inquiries increased (問い合わせが増えた). → テレビの番組で紹介されたから. The answer is 3.
Grammar in this question
〜てからというもの:Ever since ... (and it has continued) (grammar point ④ of this lesson). 「テレビで取り上げていただいてからというもの」.
Key vocabulary

修業(しゅぎょう) training; apprenticeship
問い合わせ(といあわせ) inquiry
Q2
問 男の人がこの専門学校の勉強に不安を持っているのはどんなことですか。
1大学と専門学校の勉強の両立が難しいこと
2生の魚が調理できないこと
3勉強の期間が短いこと ✓
4フランス語ができないこと
What is the man anxious about regarding studying at this vocational school?
The first anxiety the man voices is 「今まで何年も修業が必要だったのが、本当に1年で大丈夫かな」, that is, "it used to take years of training, so is one year of study really enough?" He is worried that the study period is too short. His later remark 「君、料理したことないんじゃない?生の魚とか触れるの?」 questions whether the woman herself can manage it; it is not anxiety about the study at this school itself. 1 "Difficulty balancing university and vocational school" comes from the school's introduction about current university students; it is not the man's worry. 2 "Can't prepare raw fish" is his doubt about the woman herself, not anxiety about the school's study. 4 "Can't speak French" is contradicted by the conversation: the woman says she is rather confident about her French, and the man only remarks that she would have to study the language if she went abroad. → 勉強の期間が短いこと. The answer is 3.
Grammar in this question
〜んじゃない?:Isn't it that ...? (a casual rhetorical question that gently points out something about the other person). 「料理したことないんじゃない?」.
Key vocabulary
両立(りょうりつ) balancing both; compatibility

F 本日は、当校の説明会にご参加いただきありがとうございます。当校は、寿司職人を育成する調理専門学校です。先日、テレビで取り上げていただいてからというもの、問い合わせもこれまでの5倍以上に増え、うれしい悲鳴をあげております。
Thank you all for attending our school's information session today. Our school is a culinary vocational school that trains sushi chefs. Since we were featured on TV the other day, inquiries have increased to more than five times what they were before, and we are happily overwhelmed.
F 寿司職人は、今や、海外でも将来性抜群の職業として注目されておりますが、特にヨーロッパでは本物の寿司を握れる職人が圧倒的に不足しています。これは、昔ながらの修業では、一人前になるのに10年以上かかることもあったからです。
Sushi chefs are now attracting attention overseas as a profession with outstanding prospects, and in Europe in particular there is an overwhelming shortage of chefs who can make authentic sushi. This is because, under the traditional way of training, it could sometimes take ten years or more to become fully qualified.
F そこで当校では、1年間で本格的な寿司職人を養成するコースを作りました。現役の学生さんでも大学へ通うかたわら、技術を習得するべくがんばっている方もいらっしゃいます。
So our school has created a course that trains full-fledged sushi chefs in one year. There are even current university students who attend university while working hard to master the skills.
F よさそうじゃない?1年で職人になれるし、外国で働くチャンスもありそうだし……。
Sounds good, doesn't it? You can become a chef in a year, and there seems to be a chance to work abroad, too...
M 今まで何年も修業が必要だったのが、本当に1年で大丈夫かな。
It used to require years of training, so is one year really going to be all right?
F コースもちゃんとしているみたいだし、大丈夫よ。
The course looks properly run, so it'll be fine.
M そうかなあ。でもねえ……。あ、っていうか、君、料理したことないんじゃない?生の魚とか触れるの?それに、外国行くんだったら、言葉もやらないと……。
Do you think so? But, you know... Oh, come to think of it, you've never cooked, have you? Could you even touch raw fish? And if you're going abroad, you'd have to study the language, too...
F うーん、魚かあ。フランス語にはちょっと自信あるんだけどなあ。
Hmm, fish, huh... I am rather confident about my French, though.
Q1
Listen to this sentence first
問 もしもし、試験の結果を教えていただきたいんですが……。
Hello, I would like you to tell me my exam results...
1電話でお答えいただきます。
Please answer by phone.
2電話でお答えしたまでです。
I only answered by phone.
3電話ではお答えしかねます。 ✓
I'm afraid I cannot answer by phone.
When someone asks about exam results over the phone, the organization normally cannot tell them directly by phone because of its rules, and the most appropriate and gentle way to decline is to use 「〜かねる」 (grammar point ⑱ of this lesson, "be unable to ...", a formal, softened refusal): 「電話ではお答えしかねます」. 1 「電話でお答えいただきます」 ("You will answer by phone") reverses the roles: it is the caller who wants to ask for the results, not the one being asked to answer. 2 「電話でお答えしたまでです」 (grammar point ⑥ of this lesson, "I only answered by phone") is in the past tense and means "I have already answered", which does not fit a refusal in the present situation. The answer is 3.

Q2
Listen to this sentence first
問 いやあ、春めいてきたね〜。
Oh, it's really starting to feel like spring, isn't it?
1ほんと、コートいらないね。 ✓
True, we don't even need coats.
2もう、春も終わりかあ。
Spring is already almost over, huh.
3そろそろ、セーター用意しなきゃ。
I'd better get a sweater ready soon.
The speaker says 「春めいてきたね」 (grammar point ⑨ of this lesson, 「〜めく」: it's starting to feel like spring), meaning the weather is warming up from winter and taking on a hint of spring (not yet fully spring). The most natural reply describes a concrete sense of the weather getting warmer: 「ほんと、コートいらないね」 ("True, we don't even need coats"). 2 「春も終わりかあ」 ("Spring is already ending") treats it as if spring had been here for a long time, which is the opposite of what 「春めく」 expresses, namely "just beginning to show signs of spring". 3 「セーター用意しなきゃ」 ("I need to get a sweater ready") is completely the wrong direction: sweaters are for keeping warm in winter, and there is no need to prepare one when the weather is getting warmer. The answer is 1.
